Well done! You survived day 1 of having the kids at home! I would love to hear abut how you kept your kids occupied!

Here is a simple recipe for bread which does not require any yeast, as none of us can find any in the stores. Kids LOVE to handle dough, and this bake is a good one with children as it does not require lots of skilled kneading.

Bake this in the morning with your littles (perhaps you can get the ingredients ready while they do Joe Wicks PE lesson and you can make the bread straight after) and enjoy the bread for lunch.

All you will need is:

500g plain flour

2 tsp baking powder

1 tsp salt

300 ml full fat milk

First, preheat your oven to 190°C Fan with your baking sheet inside so it can also be very hot. It is imperative that the dough sits on a very hot tray.

Mix the dry ingredients together. Make a "well" in the middle and add in the milk, and bring the dough together by stirring until you have a dough.

Lightly flour your work surface, turn the dough out onto it and work until it is consistent.

Using your hands, shape the dough into a round disc (your kids will love calling this a flying saucer). It only needs to be about 3cm tall. Be sure to score the top with a cross, which will help it bake in the middle

Bake for 35 minutes until it is pale brown and sounds hollow when you tap the bottom.

Let it cool and then enjoy with soup, with a Ploughmans or simply with lashings of butter.

Happy baking!
