As far as thrilling bakes go, flapjacks aren't really up there with the best. What they lack in visual appeal, however, they more than make up for in sheer good old fashioned deliciousness.
These are a particularly easy bake to make with children as it really is so easy to make. They are also the perfect treat to take along on day trips and picnics. These can be frozen and will be fine for 2 months. To defrost simply leave at room temperature for 2-3 hours.

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
200g butter
75g soft brown sugar
100g golden syrup
250g oats
optional : 75 g finely chopped walnuts & 1.5 tsp of cinnamon
METHOD:
Preheat your oven to 165 deg c and grease a 20cm square baking tin with butter
In a saucepan, melt your butter.
When melted, add the brown sugar and the golden syrup.
Blitz half of your oats in a blender to chop them slightly. Add the chopped oats and the whole oats.
Add the finely chopped nuts and the cinnamon.
When all mixed together, spread evenly in your greased tin.
Bake for approximately 25-30 minutes, until the edges brown.
Leave to cool and then cut into equal portions.
